Complaints: Surviving to thriving
Susie Jamieson
Event Details
The Psychologists Protection Society Trust welcomed Susie Jamieson as our fourth speaker in our series of Virtual Seminars to celebrate the Psychologists Protection Society Trusts 50th Birthday on Saturday 5th October 2024.
Session Outline
The purpose of the session is raising awareness that complaints do happen and to encourage counsellors to talk about them; openly!
The aims of the session are to show that complaints reach & ripple far into our professional and personal lives, yet we CAN survive and even thrive through and beyond a complaint. Making use of peer support, self-care, reflective learning, Supervision & professional resources are vital. A brief tour of the ‘paperwork’ & coping strategies followed by a raw story & evidence that rebuilding work & life post conclusion / sanction is perfectly possible.
Speaker Information
Susie Jamieson is an Accredited Therapist in Private Practice, living in rural Southwest Scotland with her dog. Susie is bursting to make this – at times – isolating profession, one where we can speak more openly and honestly about being a therapist; creating a culture absent of comparisonitis and/or comparanoia. Ultimately talking about the darker aspects of our lived professional experience; Complaints… Supporting each other, helping to eliminate the shame, loss of professional confidence, identity and rebuilding a fractured practice and new sense of self, post complaint.
